On the 28th of May 2021, clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals had the opportunity to learn more about the Smart4Health, ICU4COVID and Smart Bear projects, all of which are developing and implementing digital health solutions in the Madeira region. In the case of the ICU4COVID project, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about the telemedicine system that is installed in the Madeira, specifically in the Intensive Care Unit of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, as well as in other health units in the Region. The system allows healthcare professionals located in different units, even outside of the Region, to communicate, share knowledge and improve the treatment of patients in the outermost regions of the EU. In the case of the Smart Bear project, visitors were able to try out the technological devices for monitoring health and wellbeing and watch demonstrations of the applications developed to support the active and independent ageing of the senior population. In the case of the Smart4Health project, participants had the opportunity to get to know the European health data platform that is being developed and tested at the European level.
